When I talk about going home, I still refer to Belgium. It is where I grew up, met most of my friends, fell in love and silently grew my wanderlust until it was time to fly the nest. So it was with much enthusiasm that I finally – after three years of shooting weddings all around the world – photographed my first wedding at home. And to top it all off, the bride suggested we photograph in the central library. It was originally plan B, you know, in case it rained. But when she mentioned how significant it was to both of them, having studied and her still doing much of her work there, it beautifully turned into part of plan A. Those who know me well, will know I am a bit of a book nerd. It was just the three of us in that majestic big reading room. Moments like that make my heart sing.
And I’d love to shoot more in Belgium, especially around Antwerp, Turnhout and Leuven. So if you’re getting married this year or next, contact me if you’re still looking for a wedding photographer!
We worked for a long time on their album to make sure it fits them to a T. And the result is an amazing grand heirloom that I’m sure will be treasured by their children and their great-great-grandchildren for years to come!
